Winter Ready, the Delta Western Way

Delta Western has been delivering heating oil safely and reliably to Alaska families for more than 40 years.

Local know-how. Reliable heat. All season long.

At Delta Western, we’ve spent over 40 years delivering more than just fuel. We deliver peace of mind and time-tested care for the communities we call home.

As your neighbors, we know what Alaska winters demand and how much easier they feel with a little planning on your side. Whether it’s your first season or your fortieth, here are a few of our top tips to help you stay a step ahead of the cold.

Review Your Home Heating Plan

Between black ice, holiday parties, and the occasional head cold, the last thing you need is a surprise at the tank. Now is the ideal time to consider one of our automatic delivery services:

  • Smart Monitor: We install a monitor on your tank, but we’ll also keep an eye on things behind the scenes and schedule your service on our end.

  • Smart Fill: We deliver regularly based on estimated usage, so you won’t need to call or check your levels on your own. Formerly known as our auto-fill program.

We also offer the Flex Fill plan, where you monitor your tank and request deliveries when needed.

Bonus for Smart Fill and Smart Monitor customers: You’ll receive a complimentary Member Fuel Card, giving you exclusive gas and diesel pricing at select Delta Western stations.

Build Your Safety Kit

Having essential supplies on hand can make all the difference in an emergency. Take time to prepare a kit that’s easy to access and ready when you need it. Our team recommends including:

  • Batteries and flashlights

  • Bottled water and non-perishable food

  • Blankets, hand warmers, and a battery-powered radio

  • Phone chargers or battery banks

This is also a great time to test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and replace batteries if needed.

Prep Your Home for Comfort and Efficiency

Now, while conditions are on your side, walk through your home and make a few easy updates:

  • Inspect and seal any drafts around windows and doors

  • Clear vents to ensure airflow throughout your home

  • Know how to shut off your water supply in case of frozen pipes

  • Review your family’s plan for what to do in the event of a power outage

These small steps can have a big impact later.
