We Live Here. We Give Here: Delta Western Hits a Home Run with Community Spirit in Dutch Harbor

The season begins as young athletes step up to the plate.

At Delta Western, our commitment to community runs deep throughout Alaska. Whether we’re delivering fuel in challenging conditions or lending a hand at local events, we take pride in being active, trusted members of the communities we call home. That spirit was on full display at the recent Unalaska Little League season opener, where our team showed up with food, energy, and hometown pride.

Delta Western has long supported the Unalaska Little League as a team sponsor and a hands-on partner providing food and supplies. For this season’s opening day, our local team went the extra mile by firing up the grill for players, families, and fans.

The first batter of the season was Willow, daughter of Terri Poellnitz, Delta Western Dock Attendant. Willow also served as first base player for Team Delta Western.

“It’s about more than baseball. It’s about giving these kids a great start to their season and sharing moments that bring the community together,” said Wayne Jackson, Site Manager at Delta Western Dutch Harbor, who leads this volunteer partnership.

Delta Western employees Randy Ignacio, Tasi Fonoti, and Jerold Ocampo manned the grill on opening day, bringing both good food and great energy to the event.

Delta Western has proudly sponsored Unalaska Little League for 2 years. The partnership reflects our long-standing commitment to the wellbeing and vitality of the communities we serve.

“We’re proud of how our teams show up for their communities—not just as employees, but as neighbors, parents, and volunteers. The dedication we see in Wayne Jackson reflects the spirit of Delta Western across Alaska.” —Henry Palmer, President.

Opening day in Unalaska is just one example of the meaningful ways Delta Western employees contribute beyond the workplace. We’re proud to support local traditions like Little League and even prouder of the team members who make that support possible.
