Celebrating Haines, the Great Outdoors, and a Ride Across Borders
At Delta Western, being part of the communities we serve means more than delivering fuel. It means showing up for the places, people, and everyday moments that bring a place together.
This month, that spirit was on full display as members of the Delta Western and NorthStar Energy team took part in the Kluane Chilkat International Bike Relay (KCIBR), one of the North’s most scenic and celebrated cycling events.
Representing the team on the road were Jeremy Talarovich, Director of Operations; Patrick Hammon, Procurement Manager; and Ryan Ottenad, Assistant Controller at NorthStar Energy.
Delta Western was also honored to sponsor the event for the third year in a row.
From the Yukon to Alaska
Held on Saturday, June 20, the race drew cyclists together for an unforgettable ride from Haines Junction, Yukon, to Haines, Alaska.
The route stretches roughly 150 miles through some of the most spectacular terrain in the region, taking riders across borders, through mountain passes, and toward the coast under the long daylight of the summer solstice season.
Along the way, cyclists experience views of some of the area’s most iconic landscapes, including:
Kluane National Park and Reserve, near the start line in Haines Junction, known for its icefields and peaks designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Tatshenshini-Alsek Provincial Park, where glacier-carved valleys and rugged terrain create a dramatic backdrop along the Haines Highway.
Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve, a 48,000-acre preserve that is home to one of the world’s largest concentrations of bald eagles.
