Serving Up Summer in Dutch Harbor

Delta Western’s local team fired up the grill and drew a crowd at the recent Uncle Sam Jam.

The longest line at Unalaska’s Community BBQ Kick-Off led straight to the Delta Western booth.

Hosted by the Unalaska Department of Parks, Culture, and Recreation during its annual Uncle Sam Jam, the July 4 cook-off brought local organizations together for an afternoon of food and friendly competition.

Delta Western proudly sponsored the event, while members of the Dutch Harbor crew traded their usual duties for time behind the grill.

Jerold Ocampo served up barbecue featuring his top-secret Filipino sauce, drawing a growing crowd throughout the afternoon. The recipe stayed under wraps, but the results spoke for themselves: Delta Western tied for first place alongside Unalaska Public Works.

The recognition added an exciting finish to a day that reflected how our Dutch Harbor crew approaches its role in the community. Team members regularly support local activities, volunteer with Unalaska Little League, and contribute to efforts that help keep the area safe and connected.

“We live and work here, so being involved in the area is important to us,” shared Wayne Jackson, Delta Western Site Manager in Dutch Harbor. “The cook-off gave us another opportunity to spend time with our neighbors and share some excellent barbecue. Seeing that line at our booth was a nice compliment to Jerold, too.”

Delta Western’s roots in Dutch Harbor date back to 1984. Over the years, the operation has grown, but its close connection to the people and organizations it serves has remained central to the team’s work.
