The People Behind Delta Western

Celebrating Forty Years of Commitment to Alaska
In 1984, Delta Western began as a single fueling station in Dutch Harbor. Over the past forty years, it has grown into one of Alaska’s leading independent fuel distributors, delivering more than 200 million gallons annually across Western and Southeast Alaska.
Through every season and challenge, we’ve remained committed to one mission: being the fuel partner Alaska can rely on. As we recognize Employee Appreciation Day, we are proud to celebrate the people who have carried that mission forward year after year.
Delivering Across Alaska
At Delta Western, our drivers live in the same areas they serve, which brings a personal touch to every drop-off.
In Juneau, driver Steve has become a familiar presence on his route. “When I first moved to Juneau, nobody knew who I was,” he recalls. “Now it’s ‘you’re the Delta Western delivery guy. I saw you delivering to my neighbor.’”
Steve represents what makes our team special: dedicated professionals who understand they're more than just delivery drivers. They're your neighbors, and sometimes, when the situation calls for it, everyday heroes in ordinary clothing.
Starting Every Day with Safety
Safety is more than a policy here. It's woven into everything we do and practiced in large decisions and small moments alike.
Delta Western Operations Manager, Jen Dowart, leads a daily 20-minute safety meeting with her team. This routine has improved communication and strengthened a culture of accountability across the team.
Looking back on the impact of those conversations, Jen shared, “That’s what I really appreciate about our team. Everyone takes responsibility for safety, not just the folks out in the field. We’ve built a culture where people speak up and look out for each other.”
Neighbors Serving Neighbors
The same dedication our teams bring to work carries into the communities they serve.
Our Unalaska team supports local activities and organizations, including sponsorship and volunteer support for Unalaska Little League.
In Haines, Operations Manager Jen Cowert volunteers with the local chapter of the American Legion Auxiliary, helping raise scholarship funds for Haines High School graduates.
“Seeing our employees step out and volunteer reinforces how committed Delta Western is to supporting our neighbors and putting our values into action,” shared Jeremy Talarovich, Delta Western Director of Operations.
Fueling Alaska, Together
The strength of Delta Western could be measured in gallons delivered, but it is built on something deeper: drivers who know their routes and their homeowners, teams who watch out for each other, and employees who give back to others.
On Employee Appreciation Day, we thank every member of our team for the role they play in powering Alaska, every day.
