Ready for Whatever Alaska Brings

How Delta Western plans ahead for Alaska’s unpredictable moments

Thinking ahead is part of everyday life here. Changing weather, wildfire risk, road closures, and other unexpected events can quickly affect how people and communities move, work, and stay supplied.

That same mindset is built into how Delta Western operates. Our teams plan ahead to keep fuel moving safely and reliably when conditions shift.

Behind the Scenes

Getting fuel where it needs to go takes careful coordination long before a challenge arises. Our teams live and work in Alaska, so we draw on local knowledge of roads, waterways, terminals, and communities, with backup plans in place when weather or access changes.

That planning was put into action earlier this year during an avalanche evacuation advisory in Juneau. While a barge transfer continued safely outside the affected area, our team closed the office as a precaution and staged loaded fuel trucks in secure locations in case terminal access became limited.

Readiness also extends to the way we care for our people, our facilities, and the communities around us. From regular safety communication and response protocols to oil spill contingency plans at our facilities, protecting Alaska is part of our year-round approach.

Get Your Home Fuel Setup Ready, Too

There are a few simple steps homeowners can take before weather or other disruptions make their deliveries more difficult.

Take a look at your fuel tank for signs of leaks, moisture, wear, or anything out of the ordinary, including an unusual odor. Keep the area around your tank clear of brush, debris, and other obstructions so it remains accessible for deliveries. Our wildfire preparedness guidance includes additional recommendations for maintaining clear space around your tank and property.

It’s also a good time to keep an eye on your fuel level and think ahead about your next delivery, especially as winter approaches.

Preparedness Starts Close to Home

Our customers are our neighbors, which is why safety is simply part of how we do business.

From the way we plan our operations to the care our drivers take on every delivery, we take seriously the responsibility of keeping people, communities, and fuel supplies safe.
