Fueling Alaska Responsibly
How Delta Western does Energy Awareness Month
At Delta Western, responsible energy use is part of how we operate every day. From preventing spills and safely transporting fuel to ongoing employee training, we take seriously our responsibility to the people and places we serve.
Read on for a few of the ways that commitment shows up across our operations and tips for being energy aware at home.
Safety in Every Delivery
Safe fuel delivery starts with trained teams, thoughtful processes, and a shared commitment to doing the work right.
Our SAVE program, short for Alaska’s Values Everyday, reinforces that commitment through training, incident prevention, continuous improvement, and Stop Work Authority for everyone on our team.
These practices help us protect our people, customers, and communities.
Prepared to Protect Alaska
Environmental responsibility also requires being ready when something goes wrong.
Delta Western facilities maintain Oil Spill Contingency Plans approved by the U.S. Coast Guard, Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, and EPA. Our teams receive training in hazardous waste operations, incident command, and emergency response.
We’re also active members of SEAPRO in Southeast Alaska and Chadux in Western Alaska, strengthening our spill preparedness and response capabilities across the state.
See what that preparation looks like in action during an avalanche advisory in Juneau.
Saving Energy at Home
When the cold weather rolls in, a few simple habits can help you use energy more efficiently at home:
Turn it down a notch. Lowering your thermostat while you’re asleep or away can reduce heating use and help lower your fuel bill.
Keep up with maintenance. Regular service can help your heating system operate efficiently.
Give your fuel tank some attention. Check periodically for signs of rust, wear, leaks, or other damage, and keep the surrounding area clear of vegetation and debris. If you notice an unusual odor or anything that doesn’t look right, have it checked by a professional.

Energy Awareness, All Year Long
Whether we’re delivering fuel, preparing for an emergency, or helping a family manage its home heating needs, we’re committed to taking care of our shared Alaska.
