Spring in Our Step

Opening day of the 2025 Unalaska Little League season

What’s Growing This Season Across Alaska

Spring gives us new reasons to appreciate the communities we serve across Alaska. This time of year brings longer days, renewed energy, and opportunities to gather in ways that feel especially joyful after a long winter.

From the ballpark to outdoor festivals, we’re proud to support the people and events that keep Alaska moving.

Little League in Dutch Harbor

Delta Western is honored to sponsor Unalaska Little League for the third year in a row. From helping provide food and supplies to showing up on Opening Day, our team is excited to play a small role in getting the season underway.

“It’s about more than baseball. It’s about giving these kids a great start to their season and sharing moments that bring the community together,” said Wayne Jackson, Site Manager at Delta Western Dutch Harbor, who leads this volunteer partnership.

Folk Festival in Juneau

As April arrives, so does one of our favorite traditions: the Alaska Folk Festival. The week-long festival, the oldest and largest of its kind in Alaska, celebrates American folk music and the community around it. This year’s festival, held April 6-12 in Juneau, will be the 51st.

It is entirely free to attend, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to experience the magic of live music. Whether you are stopping by for a concert set, participating in a weekend workshop, or tearing up the dance floor, there’s so many ways to join the fun.

Migration Celebration in Haines

In May, the Chilkat Valley transforms into one of the most spectacular natural stages in North America for the Haines Alaska Migration Celebration. Held from May 1-3, this event honors the massive resurgence of life that defines our region's springtime.

With the return of the eulachon, also known as hooligan, thousands of birds, sea lions, whales, and eagles are drawn to the shores in Haines. More than just a wildlife viewing event, the celebration is a fusion of Haines’ culture and the spirit of the community.

Whether you are an experienced birder or a local family looking to soak in the gorgeous scenery, the festival offers a chance to connect with the natural wonders that help make Alaska so special.

The Chilkat Valley will be coming alive, and the event is free of charge. We hope to see you on the shoreline this May.

Where We Live, Work, and Serve

Being a good neighbor means more than delivering fuel. It means showing up and lending a hand to the place we call home.

Delta Western has been proud to serve Alaska for over forty years, and that commitment continues through every season. If you’re planning ahead for springtime, give your local Delta Western office a call. They’ll be happy to meet you!
